Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 12, 2026

This policy explains what data Verbola ("we", "us") collects when you use the Verbola mobile app and the verbola.io website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Questions and requests: contact@verbola.io.

Data we collect

Account and profile:

  • Name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Google / Apple sign-in identifier if you use social login.
  • Optional profile details: username, phone number, avatar selection.

Study data you create in the app:

  • Your exam profile: exam type (IELTS or TOEFL), exam date, target score, daily study minutes, and the skills you mark as weak.
  • Study plans, task completion, focus sessions, notes and mistake logs, mock test scores, vocabulary review progress, XP and streaks.
  • Writing submissions and speaking recordings you send for AI evaluation, and the resulting scores and feedback.

Device and service data:

  • Push notification tokens and notification preferences, if you enable reminders.
  • Subscription status from RevenueCat and the app stores (we never see your card details; payment runs entirely through Apple or Google).
  • Crash reports and usage analytics via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics in the mobile app.
  • Advertising identifiers for free-plan users, used by Google AdMob with your consent where required (consent is collected in-app; on iOS, App Tracking Transparency applies).

How we use your data

  • To run the product: generate your study plan, track progress, deliver reminders and sync your account across devices and this website.
  • To produce AI feedback: your writing submissions and speaking recordings are processed by our AI service providers solely to generate your scores and feedback.
  • To operate subscriptions: verify your Premium entitlement through RevenueCat and the app stores.
  • To show ads to free-plan users through Google AdMob, subject to the consent choices you make in the app.
  • To improve stability and fix crashes using aggregated analytics and crash reports.
  • To send transactional email (verification codes, password resets) - we do not send marketing email without separate consent.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We never see or store your payment card details.
  • The website sets only an essential session cookie when you sign in; it loads no advertising or cross-site tracking scripts.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (Settings) or on this website (Account). Deletion is scheduled with a 14-day grace period: signing in again within 14 days cancels it; after the grace period your account and study data are permanently removed. Verification and password-reset codes expire within minutes and are stored only as hashes.

Your rights

You can access and correct your profile in the app or on this website, change your password, control notifications, withdraw ad consent in the app settings, and delete your account as described above. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR), you may also have rights to data portability, restriction and objection - contact us at contact@verbola.io and we will respond to verified requests.

Service providers

We share data only with the processors needed to run Verbola: cloud hosting and database infrastructure, AI providers for generating feedback on your submissions, Firebase (analytics, crash reporting, push notifications), Google AdMob (advertising for free-plan users), RevenueCat (subscription management) and Resend (transactional email). Each receives only what its function requires.

Cookies and analytics on this website

This website (verbola.io) sets no analytics cookies by default. If Google Analytics 4 is enabled for the site, it runs only after you allow it in the consent banner; declining changes nothing about how the site works. Analytics events never include your name, email, submissions or any other personal data - only page and content identifiers (for example, which guide was read). Your choice is stored in your browser and can be changed at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer. Strictly necessary cookies (such as the session cookie when signed in) are exempt from this choice.

Children

Verbola is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We will update this policy as the product evolves and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
